Welcome again to the Lextalk Wellness Wednesday Roundup! As always, we're sharing some tips and info for lawyers to help stay healthy in a profession known for long hours and heavy workloads.
First up this week: TheLawyer.com has launched a new health and wellness podcast, focusing first on mental health. Check that out here (sign-in required): The Lawyer Wellness Podcast - Episode 1.
Meanwhile, the ABA Journal is reporting on a recent survey that found some 30% of lawyers in Florida, if given the chance and knowing what they know now, would not enroll in law school. Kinda grim. Thirty-nine percent of the respondents said they felt anxiety or depression related to their job, while others noted exhaustion and even "psychological abuse" at their firms. Read that report here.
Finally, Law.com has this powerful interview with Jeena Cho, a San Francisco bankruptcy lawyer who has struggled with anxiety and depression her whole life but now working to help improve mental health in the legal profession. She co-authored a book, "The Anxious Lawyer," and discusses her life and career and what the legal industry needs to do about emotions and mental heath with Law.com right here.
