I’m deeply honored to share with you that last evening, at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., LexisNexis Legal & Professional received the 2017 Corporate Leadership Award from Freedom House for our activism in promoting and advancing the rule of law globally.

Many of you will know that Freedom House is an independent organization dedicated to the expansion of freedom and democracy around the world and we were humbled to share the stage with fellow award recipients including Secretary General of the Organization of American States Luis Almagro, U.S. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, actor and activist Richard Gere and clothier H&M for their exceptional achievements.

In the words of Freedom House President, Mike Abramowitz, the LexisNexis core mission to advance the rule of law in emerging and developed nations is bringing transparency to laws, furthering human rights, and strengthening judiciaries so people of all nations can better access justice.

We stand ever-proud to pursue this mission together with you, our customers and friends in law firms, corporations, governments, NGOs and guiding bodies like the United Nations. It’s not hard to see the serious and severe challenges facing us. While we take a moment to humbly share this wonderful recognition from Freedom House, we also look ahead to progressing meaningful rule of law work with you and remain focused on building a prosperous and peaceful world together.
