Don’t sweat it. All you’re doing is attending a business meeting with numerous highly-ranked business professionals. You exit the elevator; walk down the hall and reach for the handle. What happens next could be compared to reading a “Choose Your Own Adventure Story” book. Before you open the door you could be faced with the following choices:
A) Bust open the door while singing your favorite song OR
B) Show up in a hula skirt
While either of these options would make for an interesting start to a business meeting, neither of them would be acceptable in the business realm. (Though if it is acceptable I’d be curious about which company the meeting is for.)
Ultimately, your actions can determine whether a meeting is a success or failure. So before you bust in belting out T-Swift’s “Shake It Off” or show up in your hula skirt from last Halloween, take the time to read these rules from Business Insider. Learning these rules could allow you to use your pipes and hula skirt for a possible celebration at the local karaoke bar after the meeting .
