Product Training & Tips
Growing up many of us were told by our parents to “make yourself standout from the crowd” when making your resumes. As the job market has become more competitive, jobs are harder to obtain.
So how do make yourself stand out without talking with employers?
According to Ladders, here are 4 ways to stand out to recruiters without making a peep:
1. Build a flawless LinkedIn profile Build an impressive LinkedIn profile that complements your resume. A massive 78 percent of recruiters have hired through a social network, and 98 percent of those recruiters use LinkedIn.
2. Write articles sharing your expertise Write articles and contribute guest posts to popular blogs and influential websites in your field. If you’re confident about writing / sharing articles, try creating your own blog. Running your own blog and building traffic is a big-time commitment, but it can really pay off.
3. Create an online mind map of ideas Employers are impressed by those who have ideas to bring to the table. Jot down all of your best ideas, strategies and thoughts. Consolidate these items on to an online mind map or infographic. Make them easy to read and eye catching.
4. Don’t stand out for all the wrong reasons Avoid standing out for the wrong reasons, like being zany. You want to stand out because you are professional, knowledgeable and will go above and beyond when it comes to the job.
Good tips. I like the low key approach to standing out.
Great tips. Loved your tip # 2 especially. Content is the king in internet marketing world. If you write good content with intention to help others, you will rank higher than your competitors for sure.
