As turkeys everywhere are running for their lives (literally), many of us have been scouring the web in search for affordable plane tickets so we can spend the holiday with family and other loved ones.
So how can you guarantee saving yourself money on your holiday trip?
Well just avoid traveling on the following two days, according to an article by the HuffingtonPost.
According to the Huffington Post, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after Thanksgiving are the most expensive travel days of the whole year. In fact, you could save 30-50% on your tickets if you avoid flying on either of those days.
It’s also best not to wait until the last minute to book your Thanksgiving flight as an average of five dollars is added to your fare each day you wait. For those who want to play by the saying “better safe than sorry”, you would like the tidbit from CBS Travel Editor Peter Greenberg, who notes that prices don’t skyrocket until mid-October (which has already passed). During this time prices rise an estimated 17 percent.
For those who are last-minute planners and now find yourselves nervous about finding a flight, you can relax. You can still save on your flights. Flying out on the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving as well as the Monday after Thanksgiving is another travel plan that will allow you and your family to save on your travel. Don’t find yourself along on Thanksgiving because you didn’t plan enough ahead and can’t afford a ticket. Get your ticket and spend the holiday with family and other loved ones, giving thanks for all that you have.
