Lexis for Microsoft Office: Using Cases; Briefs, Motions, & Pleadings

Lexis® for Microsoft Office® provides content and tools to help litigators and transactional attorneys identify precedent and complete document drafting with greater confidence and efficiency. Links to relevant cases, briefs, motions, pleadings help minimize duplication of effort.

To find cases, briefs, motions, pleadings tool, perform the following:

  1. While in a Microsoft Word document, view the LexisNexis® ribbon.
  2. In the document, highlight the text on which you want to search.
  3. In the Find Precedent section of the ribbon, click the Briefs, Motions, & Pleadings button. Documents related to your search phrase appear in the Research Pane.
  4. Review the list of documents, and complete any of the options.

Pro Tip 1: Expand your search by including synonyms and equivalents for your chosen search terms.
