Question about Compliance

I'm just trying to gauge opinions on the market for law school graduates working in compliance positions. I know about certain gov't positions like in the OCE office of Legal Servs. Corp., but how is the private sector market looking?

Thanks for your comment and question. I consulted a compliance officer within LexisNexis who indicated that the private sector legal compliance field continues to be a growth area. A quick search on LinkedIn shows over 9K related positions open, www.linkedin.com/.../q-legal-compliance-jobs. However, there may not be many positions out there for recent law school graduates with no work experience. Having a few years of law firm experience in a related field likely would increase a candidate’s marketability.

I also found a couple of surveys about the compliance industry that you might find helpful –

1.) 2013 State of Compliance by PwC - deloitte.wsj.com/.../us_aers_grr_final_deloitte_compliance_week_pdf_080813.pdf

2.) Compliance Trends Survey by Deloitte and Compliance Week - deloitte.wsj.com/.../us_aers_grr_final_deloitte_compliance_week_pdf_080813.pdf

I hope this information is helpful to you, and wish you luck in your job search endeavors.
